Most of us don’t exactly relish the prospect of winter – cold weather and dark nights aren’t exactly fun (unless you’re a bat!). Freezing temperatures can also wreak havoc with your hair so here’s a few tips for preserving its condition:

1. Always use a protein-rich shampoo and conditioner
Strong and healthy hair is nourished by protein – so shampoo and conditioner based on protein ingredients is an easy and ideal way to keep your hair healthy and well-conditioned.
2. Lock-in natural oils and moisture
Hair loses its natural oils and moisture when subjected to dry heat (central heating, open fires etc). Wearing a leave-in conditioner will help combat the loss of these wonderful, natural hair oils and keep your hair healthy.
3. Wrap it up!
It’s a little known fact that constant friction between the hair and clothing fabric i.e. cotton, wool and acrylic, can cause hair strands – either real or synthetic - to fray. Just think how many times you wear a hat or pull up a hood! Minimise hair damage by wearing a silk/100% natural fibre scarf between your hair and your chosen head cover – this will help reduce any harsh friction. If you’re a wig wearer, it could prolong the life of your hairpiece!
